BUILDING BRIDGES 2010: CAUSE Canada Sierra Leone Elementary Teachers Trip

Become part of an international learning community—join elementary teaching colleagues in Sierra Leone, West Africa for 13 days of building connections, understanding, and awareness in July 2010!

Our vision for the trip:

  • Creating Understanding: experiencing life in the Sierra Leonean classroom
  • Capacity Building: professional development workshops between teachers
  • Collaborative Projects: using theatre to explore common challenges
  • CAUSE Project Tour: visiting women’s literacy, leadership and business development classes
  • Experiencing Africa: cultural food, products, and landscapes!
  • Bringing it Home: engaging Canadian classrooms in global citizenship and social responsibility

Package Cost: approximately $6000 CDN/person (includes return flight from Calgary-Freetown, cancellation/interruption insurance, all accommodation, local transport/ drivers, activity fees, CAUSE staff preparation/ accompaniment and most meals).

i. Cost is based on 7 participants and does not include visa, meals in Freetown, required vaccinations or travel health insurance.
ii. Teachers may be eligible to apply for partial funding through their ATA Local
iii. A significant portion of costs: (approximately $4800 CDN) is tax deductible
