08-patrickI feel blessed to have received this opportunity to live and work with such a rich and beautiful culture. This experience has made me realize how truly fortunate we are as Canadians and how the Garifuna people I haved worked with will never have the types of opportunities we as Canadians take for granted everyday. The Garifuna people manage to live, smile and dance with so much less, and this gives me hope that a simpler way of life may be possible in Canada as well. I lived in a small coastal village community with amazing people and I truly felt accepted and welcomed. Through my interactions with the community I have made many lasting friendships and was able to interact on a more personal level with the people. I truly feel I have grown into a better person over the course of this wonderful internship; I fell in love with Honduras and its people and would relish the opportunity to return.
