We are pleased to offer schools in southern Alberta an opportunity to learn more about life in the developing world. Through workshops students will learn about poverty in the developing world, the Sustainable Development Goals, and what they can do to make a difference.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals are 17 goals that were developed in 2015 as a follow up to the Millennium Development Goals. They address how we as an international community can come together to make a better world. Students will learn about the goals and how they can play their part. The changes they make at a local level contribute to us all reaching these goals.
Student Activism is a natural progression once global needs have been identified. Regardless of age or grade, the students are taught how to be the change they wish to see in the world, inspiring them to make a difference for others at an early age and to think that way for life.
The Early Entrepreneurial Experiment is a great way to get students involved in creating change at an early age. Classes are given $100 in seed money and after much brainstorming and coming together as a group, students choose an ethical business idea to try to grow their seed money. Once their goal is met, the class donates their profits to the CAUSE Canada program of their choice leaving the students seeing the impact their actions have made.
Our school workshops are flexible and can be customized for your grade, and classroom, and fit in with your curriculum or school’s special focus.
Classes often take what they have learned and leverage it to the rest of the school through posters, fundraisers, or school assemblies. Passing the information on is a great way to reinforce learning, develop leadership skills, and to get the message out to others.
Learning about the needs of others helps students develop empathy and encourages them to be global citizens.
