Organized Files

I had the idea to help with the organization of the CAUSE office a few months ago when we where in Comitancillo. Some of the files, especially for the literacy and leadership programs, were disorganized and it was hard to find any information since the files were all over the office and did not have a standarized name.

I took the initiative to reorganize the files and requested a new filing cabinet for them which Jorge, our country supervisor, got for the office almost immediately. Unfortunately for him, I had no idea what many of the files were and the two of us were tied to the chairs at the office for two or three straight days so that we could both go through the refiling together. Poor Jorge, I know he liked the idea of having everything more organized and easily accessible, but I don't think he realized that I would take so much of his time. But we were both very pleased once all the files had been reorganized and once we had put them all in the new filing cabinet.

Since that little project had been started in Comitancillo and Jorge liked the idea so much, he also requested that I do the same for the files in the office in Todos Santos. A new filing cabinet was bought and I have been going through the files to try to reorganize them. Now instead of torturing Jorge with all my questions about what is what, I am torturing Pedro, the Todos Santos supervisor and sometimes Placido, one of the microcredit promoters, who I turn to for some of the information I need when Pedro is not in the office.

Once I am done with the literacy and leadership programs, I will begin refiling the microcredit and business development programs. All I can say is that Pedro and Placido better brace themselves for a lot more questions since I am not as familiar with the microcredit documentation. But all of it will be worth it once the files are all reorganized.
