Founded in 1984, CAUSE Canada is a Christian-based international development organization committed to working alongside people living in extreme poverty in rural West Africa and Central America.
CAUSE Canada is recognized for developing innovative, community-driven solutions that create lasting change for women and girls. The organization is a trusted partner of Global Affairs Canada and is currently implementing a seven-year initiative to help end child marriage across 480 rural communities in Sierra Leone. Over the years, CAUSE Canada has also partnered with UNICEF to strengthen early childhood development and education programming in Sierra Leone and has contributed technical expertise to World Bank-supported early childhood development programming.
In 2021, CAUSE Canada received the Innovation and Impact Organization Award from Cooperation Canada and World University Service of Canada, in collaboration with the Trustees of the Lewis Perinbam Award, for its innovative and effective approach to ending child marriage in Sierra Leone. In 2026, CAUSE Canada was invited to present at the Women Deliver Conference in Melbourne, Australia, sharing its innovative work with women and girls living with disabilities with a global audience.

Wendy Fehr is a dedicated humanitarian and development professional with more than 20 years of experience leading, developing, and managing programs and policies in diverse settings worldwide, including with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR). For the past ten years, Wendy has served as the Executive Director of CAUSE Canada, where she leads a talented team focused on improving women’s and girls’ health and education, ultimately to end extreme poverty in rural West Africa and Central America. She is an innovative thinker skilled at identifying emerging trends and gaps, with a strong track record of building strong teams and working with governments and donors. Her commitment to justice, peace, and development, and her passion for empowering people and building lasting change, are fueled by and grounded in seeing the people that CAUSE Canada works alongside become change agents in their own communities.
